Frequently Asked Questions

How long before I’ll see results?

In less time than you might think.  Generally by the third week, people begin to see measurable results.  It is typical to feel more energy and a greater sense of well being almost immediately, followed by changing clothing sizes and scale readings.

What can I expect in terms of body fat & weight loss?
The American College of Sports Medicine, maintains that a loss of ½ of 1 percent per month is “Excellent”.   I could not disagree more!  Using the YNPF system, you can expect ¾ to 1 percent loss per month, routinely.  Regarding weight loss; as a general rule I expect about 10 pounds per month loss from my clientele who wish to lose significant amounts of weight.

In the past I’ve been in accidents that have left me with back problems.
Is there any way I could participate in your program?

Most Definitely! One of the areas where we, at Y Not Personalized Fitness, feel most proficient is in injury prevention and rehab.  Our trainers have collectively been involved with rehab for 30 years and have actually taught, “Back School”, and other programs in rehab settings.

I’ve been thinking about trying to get involved with some type of recreational sport.  I’m in good health, I’m 45 years old, and my only experience is in swimming. What do you recommend?
With the information you provided, I would not say definitively, however, upon learning more about you; such as, joint problems, lifestyle risk factors, health history, your preferences, and your level of determination, I might recommend the growing sport of triathlon.  The great news is; we have the knowledge and experience to train you in dozens of sports to your greatest ability.

My mother is in her seventies and although her general health is good, she doesn’t seem to have the strength to get up and around any longer. Can anything be done to help her get her mobility back?
I believe, with a high level of certainty, that your mother could improve greatly, and get her mobility back.  We would begin by having her doctor examine her, and set any specific guidelines he/she would deem necessary, then our trainers would design a graded strength-training program that fits her specific needs.

What about nutrition? I really don’t know what to eat, or how much, are you qualified to help me?

At YNPF, we are able under the guidelines of our certifications, to offer you advice on good general nutrition concerns. However, should you have a special dietary condition, or sports nutrition need, we work closely with a certified nutritionist to give you the safest and most effective nutrition program.
